Community Survey Results

A recent community survey of Inver Grove Heights Schools (ISD 199) residents showed very high support (80%) for renewing the district’s Capital Projects Levy this November. The Morris Leatherman Company, a national survey research firm, conducted a phone survey of 400 registered voters that reflected the community’s demographics. Questions included perceptions of the school district and reactions to a Capital Projects Levy renewal with no additional tax impact. 

The survey, conducted May 20-30, showed high support for the school district, its financial management, and renewal of its Capital Projects Levy.

Morris Leatherman consultant Don Lifto presented highlights of the survey results to the school board during their June 22 board meeting. Highlights included:

• When asked to grade ISD 199 on quality, 76% of respondents gave the district an A or B. This result is far above the national average of 46% A’s and B’s.
• 79% of respondents supported renewing the Capital Projects Levy to keep classroom devices and technology up-to-date and well maintained
• 76% supported renewing the Capital Projects Levy because, if the levy is not renewed, funds for required curriculum resources and technology will need to be taken out of other budgets and could negatively affect class sizes.
• 73% supported renewing the Capital Projects Levy to strengthen teacher training around the most effective, up-to-date ways to use technology to supplement classroom learning.

At their July 13 meeting, the school board will discuss putting a Capital Projects Levy renewal question on the November 3, 2026, ballot. Thank you to everyone who was called and agreed to take the survey! Your input is helping the district better understand the community’s current views.
